DROP is a multifunctional stool functioning as seating, sidetable and storage. Collaborating with the Scandinavian design brand, WOUD, a co-student, Birthe Lippert, and I had the brief of: ”the students need to develope a functional product that can be adapted into multiple rooms at home and where cork is the key material.” We put multifunction together with durability and aesthetics and created the circled lines in the seating as an eye-catching and soothing feature, which is inspired by ripples seen in water.

With cork being the “main character” in the design, we also wanted to show how it can work with other materials, as we discovered cork is often seen alone.

Steel is known for its´ strength, great resistance and versatility. It has a cold appearance in contrast to cork, with its´ warm and soft expression. Melting these to very different materials together, we found a symphony of durability and comfort resulting in a modern and interesting design, that suits the eye. The contrasts makes the stool interesting, which is both seen in the choice of material, but also the round shapes that appear consistently. There is something appealing to the round shape, that we wanted to embrace and express in this design.
