For Danhostel Skagen, I created 24 unique room number signs, each featuring a different Skagen-inspired motif.

The idea was to design signs that guests would remember — where it’s okay to forget your room number, as long as you remember the painting on your door.

Generally speaking, people tend to recall visual information better than verbal or written content. Images evoke emotions and associations more easily, which strengthens memory retention.

Danhostel Skagen is frequently visited by school groups on camp trips, making it even more engaging and memorable for children to recognize visual artwork rather than just numbers.

The motifs are all inspired by iconic elements and characteristics of the small coastal town of Skagen.
