Waterbed from January 2021
Down To Earth
In corporation with AKVA Beds, we had the task of developing a waterbed and turn it into a new and more modern design with a light expression. Waterbeds are often very square and heavy looking and serves the function more than the design. Together with two other co-students, Sarah Vestergaard Eriksen and Emil Troelsen, we came up with this design that serves both the function and aesthetics. The bed is open, light, elegant and can attract people at almost any age.
The bed does also have room for storage. It can be placed openly in the bed frame, but has the option of adding drawers.
With oak making up the majority of the materials in Down to Earth, we attempted to create a natural, elegant and soft bed, that brings a warmth and soothing feeling.
The bed frame is the fundament of the construction, where we put a lot of effort in making a common thread throughout the whole bed. The round wooden sticks embrace the frame and make a beautiful detail, that also covers the wooden joints.
